Point-to-Point Wireless Link
The WPAN is a low-cost, low-power wireless premise area network solution for RS-232 cable replacement. Operational in the unlicensed 2.4 GHz band, the WPAN is based on IEEE 802.15.4 (ZigBee) technology and delivers bit rates up to 57.6 kbps. Designed initially for electronic signage applications, other functions include SCADA and smart energy.
The point-to-point wireless link consists of an RF transceiver module pair, a USB-A PC dongle and a DB9 serial dongle, powered via the connector interfaces. With easy software setup and auto-associate between modules using unique coded IDs, the WPAN offers a simple yet secure communications link. The WPAN also offers advanced configuration options that allow OEMs to customize the product based on their specific application and RF environments.
