Provisioning/Programming, Update, and Logistical System

This server-based solution providing remote configuration, management, and update services for maintenance of CalAmp LMU and related products. Remote management also includes collection of periodic check-in data used for monitoring the health of units in the field. PULS also serves as the host for manufacturing serial number assignment and test logging operations.

CalAmp’s LMU (Location Messaging Unit) family incorporates our industry leading over-the-air device management and maintenance software, PULS. Configuration parameters, PEG™ scripts, and firmware can all be updated over the air.  PULS offers out-of-the-box, hands-free configuration and automatic post-installation upgrades.  You can also monitor device health status across your customers’ fleets to quickly identify issues before they become expensive problems.

Platform Description

PULS is implemented on an enterprise-class server platform running a LINUX operating system. The PULS software environment includes a Database server, UDP Communications Manager, Web Server, and dedicated PULS daemon code

Product Perspective

The PULS platform is used by customers and CalAmp technical support staff to configure, manage, update and monitor the health of CalAmp LMU and related products in the field. Primary access to the PULS platform for customers and support staff is via a web-based user interface.

The PULS platform is not in the immediate critical path of day-to-day application traffic of customer applications. However, PULS is an integral part of most customers’ support operations. 24-7 availability of the PULS system is essential to those support operations.

PULS Enables CalAmp customers to:

  • Remotely manage Location Messaging Unit (LMU) device groups, firmware updates, and configuration changes.
  • Monitor device operational status.
  • View device firmware updates and configuration change history.
  • View or modify device configuration.
  • View or add device firmware.
  • Set up customer groups.
  • Set up and organize device groups.
  • Manage user accounts and privileges for devices.
