CMM-9900 – AMPS-GSM Retrofit Modem

The CMM-9900 AMPS/GSM Retrofit Modem from CalAmp is the ideal solution for protecting existing Cellemetry® and MicroBurst® designs from obsolescence due to the Analog (AMPS) sunset.This Retrofit Modem extends the life of your existing control channel designs, providing a simple, cost-effective migration that allows you to protect your product development investment and your customer base as the cellular carriers phase out the analog AMPS networks.

The CMM-9900 is a drop-in replacement for 14-pin form factor control channel radios and provides full hardware and software emulation of the legacy modules to the application device. Commands and messages are converted to/from the application for the GSM modem. Messages are exchanged over the GSM network using SMS or GPRS to allow application devices to be easily converted without hardware or software design changes. Interfacing to a customer’s existing back-end software is a simple and straightforward task and cross-application implementations are possible by adding the appropriate translations to the back-end interface.

The CMM-9900 is implemented as a fully self-contained GSM modem device. This means that approvals for the application device are greatly simplified saving the customer substantial amounts of both time and money.
